Canada: Montreal-magog

Next dates: June 6-11

Our High School ministry will be taking a group to Canada this summer to assist our partner church with community outreach.  Our Missions Ministry started supporting a new church in the suburbs of Montreal last year in a partnership with the North American Mission Board.  This church is in the town of Magog.  Magog is just a few miles from the border of the USA.  This mostly French-speaking area is very secular and has the feel of post-modern France.  The church has renovated an old theatre downtown and has begun having services there.  They have had a great response so far and are the only evangelical church in the area.

This is our first year to take a group to Costa Rica.  We have taken similar groups to Portugal the last few years.  We will be working with a small church called Casa Vida in the coastal town of Tamarindo.  We will be doing basketball clinics in two different settings.  In the morning we will be working in a school with kids from a local school team.  During this time our coaches will be sharing their testimonies and allowing our host church to build relationships with the school leaders and the students in the school.  In the afternoon, we will be leading a basketball/sports outreach in a local park.  Here we will play games and have competitions to reach local kids.

The gospel is spreading fast in Cuba!  As communism softens a bit in Cuba, God is opening the doors for more opportunities there!  Our team will be assisting missionary John Seale who has been working in Cuba for several years.  We do construction work, children’s ministry, discipleship classes, and anything else to support the local church in Cuba.

Chiapas, Mexico:

Ages: College age to Adults
Specific abilities/gifts: construction, strenuous, men only
Cost: $850
Next dates: February 2017

Our Chiapas team goes where most people don’t want to go.  It takes several days to arrive in these remote locations in the mountains of southern Mexico.  However, it is always worth it.  We assist the local Christians in the village to build new a new church building.  The people are always extremely grateful!  With no hotels nearby, it’s always time to break out the tents!  Running water and bathrooms are scarce but God always takes care of our every need!  Please pray for God to continue to provide men who don’t mind getting a little bit dirty and roughing it.

Dallas, TX- Operation Christmas Child, Samaritan’s Purse

Ages: College age to Adults
Specific abilities/gifts: able to stand for long periods of time, not strenuous.
Cost: $150 plus food
Next dates: December 2016

We will be taking a group to work in a regional distribution center.  All those shoeboxes have to be sorted and checked and re-packed to go all over the world!  This is a great way to serve and just about anyone can do this!  We will spend four days and three nights working at a warehouse in Dallas.  Great trip for Senior Adults!
