FOUNDATION is the College Ministry of First Baptist Church Texarkana. If you are a College student who is looking for a place to plug in while attending College, then Foundation is a place for you. Or if you are a college student looking to learn more about Christianity, Jesus, the Bible, etc., then we believe Foundation is a place for you. We believe that through life on life relationships and discipleship, that students can build a strong, healthy, and firm foundation in Christ that impacts the rest of their life. Foundation exists to:
Connect College students to Jesus, but also one another. This includes weekly events for fellowship, along with opportunities for someone who is investigating Jesus to come and learn more about what it means to follow Jesus.
Equip College students in practical ways to grow in your relationship with Christ while you are in school. We want to help you better know Jesus and make Him known to others. There are weekly small groups that you can get plugged into for discipleship, fellowship, and accountability.
Mobilize College students into opportunities post-grad. We want you to flourish in your relationship with Jesus long after college, regardless of the career path you choose. We want to serve you and help you tread the sometimes murky and difficult waters of adjusting to life after college.
We spend much of our time on the campuses of Texas A&M - Texarkana along with Texarkana College. We want to be where the students are, so we will have weekly and monthly events to serve college students. The best way to stay updated on all of our events is to follow our social media pages. We will post frequently to inform students of the various events and bible studies we have available throughout the Fall & Spring semesters.
The Foundation Pathway is our mission laid out for our students to see and better understand: We exist to make disciples of Jesus Christ on the college campus. Here's how our students can grow as disciples through these 4 avenues:
1. Students can know God more through our weekly worship at FBC Texarkana and MDWK Bible studies on Wednesday nights.
2. Students can find community in our weekly growth groups where they can navigate the college experience with other Believers and grow deeper together.
3. Students who are ready for a deeper growth as a leader and disciple can join our Student Leadership Team which meets 2 Sundays a month, and/or a Discipleship Group that is led by one of our staff or student leaders. These groups are smaller and designed to help you become a disciple-maker.
4. Students can impact the world for Christ through our yearly mission trips put on by our Church and College Ministry, Evangelizing the lost on our campuses, and serving in the local Church in a myriad of opportunities.
Where are you on the Foundation Pathway? What is your next step in your growth as a disciple of Jesus Christ?
Corona Virus Updates:
Due to the Social Distancing brought about due to concerns of the Corona Virus, we will be suspending in-person events, bible studies, and small groups, but will still seek to provide outlets for growth and discipleship through online and streaming services. We will post weekly content on Sunday mornings (College Bible Class) Wednesdays (MDWK series). Also, make sure to listen to our Foundation Podcast every Monday morning for our "Following Jesus in College" series with guests from all over the state of Texas!

Upward is a worship gathering for all college-aged students in the Texarkana area. It is geared towards meeting college students where they are at.
Upward is a monthly event. It begins at 7pm with a free meal for any students who come! After dinner we will transition into a time of worship and teaching for about an hour. The goal of Upward is for students to engage "upward" with their God, and that would then impact them "Inward" in how they relate and think about themselves, and finally echo "Outward" into their relationships with other people, whether Christian or Non-Christian. It is a fun time to surround yourself with other college students and grow in your walk with the Lord and an event for you to invite your friends to!
Corona Upward Update:
upward is done for the spring semester, but will start back up in september 2020!!!
We meet on Sunday Mornings for our College Bible Class at 9:30 AM in the Annex. The College Bible Class exists to help college students grow in a knowledge of God through His Word, to learn about different topics in our culture from a biblical perspective, and to serve as a place for college students at FBC Texarkana to fellowship with one another.
** During Social Distancing, our CBC is posted to FB and IGTV at 9am on Sundays.
Our Weekly MDWK Bible Study is an opportunity for student at Texas A&M - Texarkana & Texarkana College to: 1) Investigate who Jesus is, 2) Connect with other students, and 3) Grow in their relationship with Jesus. It is a perfect time to ask questions and learn more about what it looks like to follow Jesus in college.
Bible Reading Plan
Beginning March 30th, for 12 weeks, we will be reading through the Book of Luke. If you're interested in joining in on our reading plan. You can click on the link below and find the plan and begin yourself. We also will have a Daily Time Alone With God sheet that you can fill out as you read through your daily readings, along with questions posted on our Instagram that go along with your reading once a week. We hope this plan will grow in our students a deep love and hunger for God's Word, and a deep love for Jesus, who came to "seek and to save the Lost" (Luke 19:10).
How to study the Bible steps sheet is here.
Growth Groups are a great way for you to get more connected to men and women your age who are also navigating the college experience while seeking to know Jesus more. These are designed for you to grow in your understanding of God's Word, Prayer, and Community.
