FOUNDATION is the College Ministry of First Baptist Church Texarkana. If you are a College student who is looking for a place to plug in while attending College, then Foundation is a place for you. Or if you are a college student looking to learn more about Christianity, Jesus, the Bible, etc., then we believe Foundation is a place for you. We believe that through life on life relationships and discipleship, that students can build a strong, healthy, and firm foundation in Christ that impacts the rest of their life. Foundation exists to:
Connect College students to Jesus, but also one another. This includes weekly events for fellowship, along with opportunities for someone who is investigating Jesus to come and learn more about what it means to follow Jesus.
Equip College students in practical ways to grow in your relationship with Christ while you are in school. We want to help you better know Jesus and make Him known to others. There are weekly small groups that you can get plugged into for discipleship, fellowship, and accountability.
Mobilize College students into opportunities post-grad. We want you to flourish in your relationship with Jesus long after college, regardless of the career path you choose. We want to serve you and help you tread the sometimes murky and difficult waters of adjusting to life after college.
We spend much of our time on the campuses of Texas A&M - Texarkana along with Texarkana College. We want to be where the students are, so we will have weekly and monthly events to serve college students. The best way to stay updated on all of our events is to follow our social media pages. We will post frequently to inform students of the various events and bible studies we have available throughout the Fall & Spring semesters.
The Foundation Pathway is our mission laid out for our students to see and better understand: We exist to make disciples of Jesus Christ on the college campus. Here's how our students can grow as disciples through these 4 avenues:
1. Students can know God more through our weekly worship at FBC Texarkana and MDWK Bible studies on Wednesday nights.
2. Students can find community in our weekly growth groups where they can navigate the college experience with other Believers and grow deeper together.
3. Students who are ready for a deeper growth as a leader and disciple can join our Student Leadership Team which meets 2 Sundays a month, and/or a Discipleship Group that is led by one of our staff or student leaders. These groups are smaller and designed to help you become a disciple-maker.
4. Students can impact the world for Christ through our yearly mission trips put on by our Church and College Ministry, Evangelizing the lost on our campuses, and serving in the local Church in a myriad of opportunities.
Where are you on the Foundation Pathway? What is your next step in your growth as a disciple of Jesus Christ?

MDWK is a weekly Bible Study/Gathering for all college-aged students in the Texarkana area. It is geared towards meeting college students where they are at.
MDWK begins at 7:30pm with a free meal for any students who come on the first Wednesday of the month! Every week, we will gather for a time of worship, an interaction time, a student testimony, and quick Bible message geared towards following Jesus as a college student. It usually lasts around an hour. It is a great way to connect with God while also getting to connect with other students!
The First MDWK will be on January 27th with FREE CANES at 7:30pm at FBC Texarkana in the Atrium. There is no better place for you as a college student to get connected with us than coming to MDWK!
College Bible Class
We meet on Sunday Mornings for our College Bible Class at 9:30 AM in the Annex. CBC is a time for college students to gather together and grow together as they study God's Word. For the whole Spring Semester we will be walking through an Old Testament Survey, looking at the themes, backgrounds, and teachings of each Old Testament book, one at a time. Come and learn about the Old Testament and how it all makes sense in light of Jesus and the New Testament.
The third Sunday of every month is our College Bible Breakfast where we cater a breakfast for all who come to our College Bible Class that Sunday! The first College Bible Breakfast is January 17th.
Spring Semster Series
This semester for our MDWK study, we will be walking through the book of Genesis, Chapters 1 through 11. For the whole Spring semester, each MDWK will be slowly walking through these first 11 chapters of the Bible. Our Theme for the Semester and for our study on Genesis is "Beginnings". Genesis is a book written to point the readers to the beginning of the cosmos, all the while showing us the "WHO" of creation, God Himself.
Make sure to come each week to MDWK as we walk through this series together.
Spring Reading Plan
We also will be walking through the book of Phillipians in our Devotional/Private reading time during the semester.
You can find our 8 Week reading plan with commentary and resources here. We have developed this study through the letter of Philippians with the desire to help our students have a plan for Bible reading, while also equipping them to become students of the Bible who can read, interpret, and apply the Scriptures to their lives.
How to study the Bible steps sheet is here.
