Give

Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. --Proverbs 3:9-10

One of the many privileges we have as Christians is to be able to serve the Lord in our giving. We honor God and express our faith in the simple act of obedience by the faithful giving of our tithe. The tithe represents the giving of one-tenth of your income as a gift to the Lord, as the Bible instructs in Malachi 3:10. In chapters eight and nine of 2 Corinthians, Scripture teaches that we are to give willingly, generously, and with a cheerful heart.

Your contribution goes to your church to support some 15 main areas of ministry represented in the annual church budget. Approximately one-fourth of the annual budget funds missions locally, state-wide, nationally, and around the world! Your faithful giving invests in and ensures the many ongoing missions and ministries at FBC.

HOW TO MAKE A CONTRIBUTION

All contributions to First Baptist Church are recorded, and contribution statements are mailed annually in January of the following year.

First Baptist will provide personalized dated envelopes for those who wish to give on a monthly or weekly basis. These envelopes will be mailed to your home prior to the first day of the month they are needed. Members should fill in the appropriate lines on the envelopes to ensure proper assignment of contributions. Blank envelopes are also available in the seatbacks of the chairs in the Worship Center.

Gifts of checks and cash are, of course, the most commonly accepted. First Baptist Church also accepts gifts of stock. Gifts of appreciated stock offer additional tax savings: you avoid capital gains taxes and receive a tax deduction for the full value of the stock on the date of transfer. For more information on stock gifts, or if you wish to donate other non-cash items, please contact the Church Business Office.

Special offerings are made above and beyond the tithe, which supports the work of the church budget. During the year, you may be asked to contribute to or learn of needs beyond our church budget to which you would like to contribute as God leads. Please be sure to clearly specify on your offering envelope for these types of gifts. Some of those special offerings and ministries include:

World Missions Offering
Each year, First Baptist collects money to support the missionaries and work of the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention through the Lottie Moon Mission Offering. A portion of this money also goes to the Annie Armstrong Mission Offering to support the missionaries and work of the North American Mission Board here in the United States and a portion to the Mary Hill Davis Mission Offering for Texas state mission work.

Ministries
Gifts are also accepted to help fund special ministry events at First Baptist, such as mission trips, special major church events, church camp scholarships and special needs of other various church ministries.
